Account theft is far more common than most players think. These habits stop most of it.

Passwords

  • Use a unique password for the game account; never reuse one from another site.
  • Use a password manager so you can use long random passwords.

Two-step verification

Turn on two-step verification (an authenticator app or the publisher's own system) on the game account and on the email account that can reset it.

Phishing

  • Type the publisher's address yourself or use a bookmark; do not log in from links in chats or emails.
  • Beware of fake "free reward" or "verify your account" pages. A real publisher will not ask for your password in chat.
  • No legitimate currency seller needs your password. Ever.

Devices

  • Keep your operating system and antivirus up to date.
  • Be careful with mods, overlays and "tools" from unofficial sources — they are a common way to steal logins.

If you think you were hacked

  1. Change the email password first, then the game password.
  2. Sign out of all sessions if the publisher offers it.
  3. Contact the publisher's support.
  4. Scan your PC for malware.
