Choosing a server is one of the few decisions you cannot easily undo, so think it through.
1. Region and ping
Pick the region closest to you for the lowest latency. Playing at high ping is frustrating, whatever else the server offers.
2. Population
A busy server means more players to group with and an active market, but also queues and more competition. A quiet server is calmer but can make finding groups and trading harder.
3. Faction balance
Look at how players are distributed between factions. A lopsided server can shape your experience in group content and open-world play.
4. Community and time zone
Guilds and communities are what make a server. Find out when players are online and whether that matches your schedule. Communities on Discord and forums are a good way to find out.
5. Friends
If you have friends, the answer is often simply: the same server as them.
What this means for the market
Every server has its own economy, so prices differ. If you plan to buy currency, check the live prices per server on our price index — but never choose a server based on price alone.
